Frequently asked questions

What does the Tech-Stack Radar show?

The prevalence of the key web technologies on German websites, grouped by category: content management (CMS), CDN, analytics, JavaScript frameworks, e-commerce and live chat. Per category you see the leader and the shares of the rest.

Where does the data come from?

From HTTP Archive (httparchive.org), an open project that monthly crawls millions of websites and detects the technologies used. We use the Tech Report API with the geo filter “Germany” – without BigQuery, freely available (CC BY).

Does a high share mean “better”?

No. The radar measures prevalence, not quality. A high market share (e.g. WordPress for CMS) only shows how widespread a technology is – not whether it's the right choice for your project.

Why aren't all technologies included?

We curate a selection of well-known, German-market-relevant technologies per category (incl. TYPO3, Matomo, Shopware, plentymarkets, Jimdo, Contao). Shares refer to this selection, not the entire long tail.
