Nvidia invests in its customer Meta

According to The Decoder (DE), which cites the Wall Street Journal, Nvidia is investing in Meta's planned equity offering. In the same announcement, the two companies said they would expand their partnership around Meta's AI product Muse.

What is planned

For the next generation of its AI agents, Meta wants to use more Nvidia infrastructure, including Vera Rubin systems and Vera CPUs. According to the reports, Meta wants to raise up to $95 billion through stock offerings to finance its AI infrastructure buildout. According to CNBC, AMD and Broadcom also signaled nonbinding interest in buying up to $5 billion in Meta shares combined.

Context

The deal fits a pattern investors have been debating for months: Nvidia provides capital to customers such as OpenAI, which then use it to build data centers filled with Nvidia chips. Critics call this circular financing and warn it could obscure how much real demand exists.
