Claude Code on desktop now includes an integrated browser, according to Anthropic. This means Claude can pull up documentation, designs, or any other website directly within the tool—no need to switch windows.
The feature works the same way Claude interacts with local development servers: the AI model can read, click, and interact with web content.
The essentials
- Claude Code Desktop gains an in-app browser
- The browser is sandboxed and configurable
- You can choose whether browser sessions persist between uses or not
- Claude can now access documentation, designs, and websites directly in the tool
Security and control
Anthropic's approach: The browser runs in an isolated environment (sandbox), and you can choose whether sessions are retained or cleared. This reduces potential security risks.
For German developers and tech teams, this could streamline development workflows with Claude Code—fewer context switches, more focus on the task. Whether the feature works reliably with complex, authentication-required websites remains to be seen.
