Anthropic has launched Inference Hooks in beta for Claude Enterprise organizations. The feature enables companies to integrate their own AI security servers directly into Claude's processing pipeline – before the prompt is actually executed.

How the security control works
The mechanism is straightforward: any prompt subject to governance rules is sent to the organization's security server, which can approve or deny it before Claude begins inference. This means problematic requests are stopped at the source, not filtered after processing.
Anthropic's approach differs from post-hoc output filtering: the control happens before processing, not after. This saves computational resources and prevents problematic prompts from being processed in the first place.
Compliance and audit trail
Every denial is automatically recorded in the Compliance Activity Feed, which matters for organizations operating under regulatory requirements – such as the EU AI Act or industry-specific compliance rules. Companies can track which prompts were blocked and why.
Requests are cryptographically signed to ensure authenticity. Error handling is configurable, so organizations can decide how Claude behaves if the security server is unreachable.
What this means for enterprises
Inference Hooks address a central challenge for enterprises: how to control and document AI usage? The feature allows Claude to integrate into existing security and compliance infrastructure without requiring data to leave the organization if the security server runs on-premises.
