How AI is actually being used.

The atlas shows two separate Eurostat surveys: use of AI technologies by enterprises with at least ten persons employed, and use of generative AI by people aged 16 to 74. Compare countries, inspect structures and trace every revision over time.

One country, two independent perspectives

The upper axis is the share of enterprises using at least one covered AI technology. The lower axis is the share of people who used generative AI. A curve only identifies the same country across both measures—it computes neither a gap nor a score.

Clearly explained

Does the atlas calculate an overall AI adoption score?
No. Enterprise adoption and individual use come from separate Eurostat surveys with different populations and denominators. The atlas presents both measures side by side but never adds, subtracts or merges them.
What does the enterprise figure measure?
It is the share of enterprises with at least ten persons employed in the covered, non-financial economic activities that reported using at least one surveyed AI technology. Germany’s published value for 2025 is 25.97%, compared with 19.95% for EU-27.
What does the individual figure measure?
It is the share of people aged 16 to 74 who reported using generative AI tools during the three months before the survey. Germany’s published 2025 value is 32.25%, compared with 32.66% for EU-27.
Why is there no German regional map?
The harmonised source publishes these measures by country, not as a complete German regional series. The atlas does not infer regional values or substitute unrelated proxies.
Can I reuse the data?
Yes, subject to Eurostat’s attribution and reuse terms. The JSON, CSV and Atom files contain source links, units, reference years, status flags and the i6eal revision trail.
Does this tool use generative AI to classify or interpret the values?
No. The collector uses fixed Eurostat dataset identifiers, dimensions and validation rules. Country ordering and labels are deterministic.
