DeepSeek unveils super-agent and takes aim at Anthropic

What is known

DeepSeek has presented, according to Global Times, a "super-agent" design meant to handle several tasks in parallel and improve efficiency. The source is a short report without a retrieved full text, so neither technical details nor performance figures can be verified.

That this design specifically targets Anthropic in the developer market cannot be substantiated from the available sources. The framing as competition to Anthropic therefore remains an assumption.

Background

For comparison, other sourced material exists: Mashable reported on 27 January 2025 on DeepSeek R1, an open-source reasoning model that the company says outperforms leading LLMs on several benchmarks. According to Mashable, its API was priced at 0.14 US dollars per one million input tokens, compared with 7.5 dollars for OpenAI o1.

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on 21 October 2026, a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners. According to Tech My Money, it is initially available by waitlist to US Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers.

Assessment

If Global Times' account holds up, DeepSeek could enter a market with agent products where Anthropic is also active. For German companies, the relevant questions would be whether such agents become available in Europe, how data is handled and what costs apply. The current source situation does not yet answer these.
