Claude Desktop now available in beta for Linux

Anthropic has officially released Claude Desktop for Linux systems – initially in beta for Ubuntu and Debian. The company announced the update via its official bot.

The desktop application now provides a native desktop experience alongside browser and terminal access. Users with paid Claude plans gain access to Claude Code and Claude Cowork directly within the desktop app.

Quick facts

  • Claude Desktop launches in beta for Ubuntu and Debian
  • Available for all paid plans
  • Includes Claude Code and Claude Cowork as desktop features
  • Complements browser and terminal access

For German developers and enterprises working on Linux systems, this adds another access layer to Claude – though still in beta status. Whether and when additional Linux distributions will be supported remains unclear from the announcement.
